01-02-2012 WKA Nationals at Daytona International Speedway

Justin and Sean raced the two day event that is attended by drivers from all over the nation as they all want to compete for the chance to be National Champions. Day 1 of racing was tough, and after backing his kart into the fence Justin was not able to finish the race.  Sean fared slightly better, running in the 3rd place position for over half the race before being bumped and falling back to 8th.

Day 2 was a better day for the boys.  Justin's kart was repaired, and after qualifying towards the back worked his way up to a 6th place finish.  Sean again was running in the top 3 before a late race caution and bad re-start shuffled him back to 5th.  That did get him on the podium and a plaque.

Friday the team moved to Volusia Speedway for the 2011 Volusia Karting Winternationals. All three boys raced this event, with Justin participating in 2 classes. In Justin's Junior Box Stock class he was running in 7th position (with a 27 kart field!) when he lost his transponder and was put to the rear of the field. The race was ended due to time restraints, so he finished pretty far back.  In his LO206 race he was involved in an early wreck that prevented him from finishing.  Sean was fast, and should have easily been competing for the lead, however with cautions wound up 2nd.  Andrew tried his hand at the Junior 2 Box Stock class, a division that he has never run, and they also had a large field of 18 karts.  He finished around 12th and we are proud of how well he hung in there with tough competition.
